1st Year Schedule: 8:30 – 10:56 AM

2nd Year Schedule: 12:54 – 3:10 PM
- Enrollment: Open only to students completing Year 1

The Medical Assistant Pathway offers students hands-on training in essential healthcare skills, including patient care, medical administration, and basic clinical procedures. Through a combination of classroom instruction and practical experience, students gain the knowledge and confidence needed to pursue a career in the medical field. The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Pathway is the perfect place to begin your healthcare career.
Second-year students who meet eligibility requirements may participate in a healthcare apprenticeship during his/her senior year. The Healthcare Specialist program enables students to become employable so they can work while continuing coursework in the Ivy Tech Practical Nursing or Associates of Science in Nursing (ASN) program or other healthcare program after graduation from high school.

Students who complete ENGL III and PSYC 101 along with the above Ivy Tech credits will be awarded the Ivy Tech Healthcare Specialist, Technical Certification.
Career Coaching
Students interested in pursuing a healthcare occupation that requires additional education beyond high school will be provided support for preparing and entering their desired healthcare program offered at Ivy Tech Community College. Additional support will be provided to students planning to enter the Ivy Tech Practical Nursing or Associates of Science in Nursing (ASN) program to ensure they understand admission requirements and deadlines.
Work-Based Learning or Youth Apprenticeship
Second-year students who meet eligibility requirements may be selected to participate in a healthcare apprenticeship with Reid Health or participate in a work-based learning experience at local urgent care facilities, doctors’ offices, diagnostic laboratories, or other medical providers.
Certification
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
The CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) credential signifies that an individual has demonstrated proficiency in essential clinical and administrative skills necessary for working in a variety of medical settings. To earn the CCMA Credential:
- Meet testing eligibility requirements
- Complete a CCMA education training program
- Earn a passing score on the CCMA (150 question examination)
Postsecondary Credential
Ivy Tech Healthcare Specialist, Technical Certification (31 credits)
The Ivy Tech Healthcare Specialist Technical Certification is evidence that students have both clinical and administrative skills. It can be used by students to obtain employment in the healthcare field while they continue their education working towards a more advanced healthcare degree.
To earn the Ivy Tech Credential:
- Completion of 31 Ivy Tech credits from the Healthcare Specialist Technical Certifications program.
