The Precision Agriculture program empowers high school students to harness technology for modern farming practices, focusing on data-driven decision-making to enhance crop yields and sustainability. Through hands-on projects, students learn about GPS technology, soil health monitoring, and drone usage for agricultural applications. This program prepares them for careers in the evolving field of agriculture, combining science, technology, and environmental stewardship. Drones, known as unmanned aerial systems (UAVs), are rapidly transforming countless industries. Getting your drone pilot certification will open doors to the numerous opportunities available in the market.

Career Activities
Students will participate in collaborative projects that involve creating and implementing sustainable farming practices, allowing them to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios. Additionally, field trips and job shadowing experiences to local farms and agriculture technology companies will provide exposure to career opportunities in precision agriculture.
Certification
Remote Pilot Certificate or Part 107 License
- Drone certification, also known as a Remote Pilot Certificate or Part 107 license, is an official designation for drone pilots from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
- Passing the Part 107 exam demonstrates that you have a good understanding of airspace regulations and safety protocols. This prepares you to fly safely within the acceptable use of FAA policy.
- Students must be 16 years of age and pass the written examination.
- The license is good for two years.

- Meet Graduation requirements
- Remote Pilot Certificate or FAA Part 107 and Ivy Tech dual credits
- Work Ready: Commercial Drone Pilot, Aerial Photography Pilot, Farm Assistant, Agricultural Technician, Agricultural Sales Representative, Field Scout, and more.
- Postsecondary: Use the Ivy Tech dual credits earned in the Precision Agriculture program to enroll in Ivy Tech to complete a short-term or long-term certification program in Agribusiness Management, Food Science, Grain systems, plant production, and many others. The other option is a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business, Agronomy, Animal Science, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Science, and more.
